Lesson 8: Free Interview Tips For Interview Day

Below are lots of free interview tips for interview day. Read them over several times so that you will remember to use them.

Free Job Interview Tip #1: It’s job interview day! First impressions are lasting impressions!!! Make a positive first impression on everyone you meet on your interview day beginning from the time you arrive at the company. Anyone you interact with such as people you meet in the parking lot, current employees or receptionists, may potentially give feedback to your potential boss. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled job interview time.

Job Interview Day Tip #2: Don’t psyche yourself out by convincing yourself that every other job applicant is better than you are. Think positive thoughts and relax while waiting for your job interview reception area.

Job Interview Tip #3: Your body language during your job interview is important. Begin the interview with a firm handshake and a genuine smile. Besides the handshake, there should not be any other physical contact between you and the interviewer. Maintain an appropriate arm’s length distance between you and the interviewer. If you get too close, it will be perceived as interfering with the interviewer’s personal space. Don’t fidget. Maintain good eye contact. Sit up straight with both feet on the ground.

Job Interview Tip #4: Listen carefully to the interviewer's question. Then answer it directly. Take your time to formulate a logical, brief response. Try to avoid giving a one word answer. Ideally, your interview should flow like a conversation. Don't irk your interviewer by rambling on without directly responding to the original question. Always, be honest about what you know and what you don't know. Display enthusiasm and energy when discussing your goals and accomplishments.
